The Leisure and hospitality industries saw the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/06\/03\/heres-where-the-jobs-are-for-may-2022-in-one-chart.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">biggest gain in jobs at 84,000<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Fed has begun the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/feds-quantitative-tightening-is-about-to-arrive-what-that-might-mean-for-markets-11654024143\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">process of Quantitative Tightening (QT)<\/a>, reducing its $9 trillion balance sheet by $47.5 billion per month for the next three months. Oh, Wait. You\u2019re Fired.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stocks experienced a slight boost this week on improved investor sentiment around the US job market and global supply chain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>China is gradually reopening its economy and could hopefully be operating at full capacity within the next month or so. What\u2019s more, Chinese regulators are apparently ending their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/china-to-conclude-didi-cybersecurity-probe-lift-ban-on-new-users-11654501320?mod=hp_lista_pos3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">crackdown on ride-hailing giant Didi<\/a>, which bodes well for tech stocks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As mentioned above, the US job market is currently performing better than expected. Despite this, high-growth companies like Tesla, Coinbase and Gemini have all had to lay off 10% of their staff and enact hiring freezes as of late. Coinbase, in particular, has faced a lot of backlash for revoking recently accepted job offers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investors are now looking toward the latest US inflation reading at the end of the week. If May\u2019s CPI (Consumer Price Index) comes in slightly lower than April\u2019s, it would signal that inflation has indeed peaked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-sector-breakdown\"><strong>Sector Breakdown<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Energy: 1.18%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Industrials: 0.04%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health Care: -3.14%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Real Estate: -2.23%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-elon-s-rough-week\"><strong>Elon\u2019s Rough Week<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Not only is Elon Musk being sued by Twitter shareholders for market manipulation, but the Stop the Deal campaign is now aiming to block his $44 billion Twitter purchase.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The campaign is waging war on multiple fronts, including asking advertisers to pull their money from Twitter and pressuring government agencies like the SEC, CFIUS and FTC to block the deal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elon probably isn\u2019t getting any love in the workplace either. Last week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/01\/technology\/elon-musk-tesla-spacex-office.html?smid=tw-nytimes&amp;smtyp=cur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">he demanded that all Tesla and SpaceX employees come back to work in-office or resign<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id='bonds-mortgage-rates' class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bonds-amp-mortgage-rates\">Bonds &amp; Mortgage rates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-rates-going-to-the-moon\"><strong>Rates Going to the Moon<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>US Treasury yields have continued climbing over the past week, with the 10-year and 30-year notes hitting 3.036% and 3.191% respectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With the US 10-year getting close to the 30-year note, we might soon see another yield curve inversion \u2014 a semi-accurate recession indicator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After mortgage rates plummeted to 5.25% over the past few weeks, the 30-year fixed-rate came back roaring at 5.44%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id='crypto' class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-crypto\">Crypto<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-hodlers-have-not-left\"><strong>The HODLers Have Not Left<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bitcoin ended its 9-week losing streak on the 30th of May and has been holding steady since \u2014 up 1.98% in the last 7 days. But we\u2019re not quite out of the woods yet. Going forward, BTC\u2019s price action is still tethered to the macroeconomic forces of inflation and quantitative tightening (QT).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crypto\u2019s fundamentals are still majority bullish though, with the number of Bitcoin addresses holding 0.01+ BTC recently hitting a new all-time high of 10.088 million. Similarly, Ethereum addresses holding 1+ ETH have hit a new all-time high of 1.48 million.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-c-mon-man-not-another-pow-ban\"><strong>C\u2019mon Man, Not Another PoW Ban<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The New York State Senate recently approved a controversial proof-of-work (PoW) mining ban bill that would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/06\/04\/new-york-crypto-mining-bill-senator-anna-kelles-interview.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">prohibit any new mining operations<\/a> in the state not using 100% renewable energy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The bill still has to be approved and signed by the governor in order to be put into effect. The cryptocurrency community is, naturally, up and arms over this bill.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recommended that governments implement carbon pricing as an alternative to banning PoW mining. Charging miners a fee for gas emissions would, in turn, provide the government with additional revenue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-will-usdd-win-the-stablecoin-race\"><strong>Will USDD Win the Stablecoin Race?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/solana-cryptocurrency-has-second-outage-in-a-month-causing-12-percent-dip-in-value\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Solana suffered its second outage<\/a> in a month, prompting all the more investors to sell their SOL tokens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tron\u2019s USDD stablecoin is now collateralized by over 200% and $1.37 billion in cryptocurrencies. Ten states now average over $5, with California currently standing at $6.34 per gallon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/06\/02\/oil-prices-eu-sanctions-russia-saudi-arabia-output-opec.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">has agreed to increase production by 648,000 barrels per day<\/a> in July and August to combat the Russian oil supply shock.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While the commitment to hiking output is a good thing, OPEC has been struggling to meet production quotas lately.
