Reed Hastings\u2019s version of the story, however, cuts out one essential aspect: Co-founder Marc Randolph. Randolph was the vice president of corporate marketing for Pure Atria, Reed Hastings\u2019s previous company. When DVDs started circulating, Randolph and Hastings were coming up with ways to capitalize on the trend, especially with the rise of Amazon dominating the book market at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
